A bearded pirate wearing an eyepatch stands on a wooden ship deck with a friendly parrot perched on his shoulder, near a small cannon and coiled rope. Broad clothing shapes and large boots accommodate sweeping strokes from wax crayons, but the tiny skull emblem on the hat needs a sharp colored pencil. Shade the captain coat in deep blue and the parrot in bright green and yellow. Youngsters can tell a high-seas adventure story about the captain and his bird for a pirate-themed birthday party.
Did you spot the skull and crossbones on the pirate hat?
