ColoringPageDream.com

The best custom coloring book from photos: 7 sites tested

We made a book on every site ourselves in October 2026. Scores are for the book builder only.

TL;DR

ColoringPageDream.com (our site, 9/10) has the most complete builder: photos, typed ideas and library pages in one book, a preview of every page, a real cover designer and a personal message — and the lowest price in the test once making the pictures is counted: $14.99 for 15 pictures, picture tries included. Like for like, printing a 15-page book of pictures you've already made costs $6.99 — about half ColorBliss's $13.59 and coloring.app's $15. ColorBliss (7/10) makes the best pages and prints books in the US and Canada, but you pay for credits on top of printing. For a no-decisions photo book, My Colorful World (6/10) has a person check every page but no preview and costs most.

The same 50 tries cost a credit pack or plan on top of printing elsewhere: about $22.59 on ColorBliss ($13.59 printing + the $9 Starter plan) and $27 on coloring.app ($15 Canvas plan + the $12 member book price).

1. ColoringPageDream.com(our site)

9/10

The most complete book builder we tried: photos, typed ideas and ready-made pages in one book, a real cover designer, a personal message and the picture-making included in the price.

A family photo on a porchThe same family photo turned into a coloring page
Price:
$14.99 for 15 pictures, 50 picture tries included; up to $27.99 for 50. Printing only, if you already have the pictures: from $6.99 for 15. Plus shipping
Printed book:
Yes

What we liked

  • Steps are shown up front (pictures, cover, delivery) and a banner says where you are.
  • Four sizes (15, 20, 30, 50 pictures), square or portrait, and three bindings.
  • Mix three sources in one book: your photos, typed ideas, and pages favourited from the free library.
  • Choose the age level (toddlers & preschool, kids, teens & adults) and a style, so a 3-year-old gets big simple shapes.
  • See every page before it goes in the book; redraw or set aside any you don’t like.
  • The strongest cover step we saw: four styles, coloured backgrounds, your own title and author, or a colourful cover drawn from your idea.
  • A personal message inside the front — who it’s for and who it’s from.
  • Picture tries come with the book (50 for the 15-picture book), so there are no credits to buy first.

What let it down

  • Stapled and spiral bindings and the portrait shape cost a little extra.
  • Shipping is added at checkout.
  • More choices than a pure photo shop — though every step has a sensible default.

Best for: A gift book that mixes family photos with their favourite things

ColorBliss logo

2. ColorBliss

7/10

The best page quality and the most editing tools, and it prints real books with a cover designer — but making the pages costs credits on top, and it only ships to the US and Canada.

Price:
Printing $13.59 (15-page paperback), $20.22 stapled, $27.96 coil — plus credits to make the pages (packs from $25, plans from $9/mo) and shipping
Printed book:
Yes — US and Canada only

What we liked

  • The best page quality in the test — even the fast setting gave clean pages with good-sized areas to color.
  • Photo to coloring page was very good, with many styles (cozy, pencil sketch, realistic person, cartoon person…).
  • Lots of touch-up tools: text, frames, upscale, background removal, color-by-number.
  • Printed books with a cover designer, a dedication and one-sided printing; a proof is emailed before printing.
  • Free credits to try it (up to 12 pages).

What let it down

  • The book price is printing only — beyond the free pages you need a credit pack ($25+) or a plan ($9+/mo) to make the pictures.
  • Ships to the US and Canada only.
  • Stapled ($20.22) and coil ($27.96) books cost more than most in the test.
  • Busy for a casual user: small style thumbnails, the main button sits below the fold, and the book option is hard to find.
  • Its pages suited older kids and teens; we didn’t see simple toddler pages.

Best for: Keen creators in the US or Canada who want the most control over each page

My Colorful World logo

3. My Colorful World

6/10

The simplest way to get a printed photo book, with a person checking every page — but no preview, no control over the style, and the highest prices.

Price:
$33.99 (20 pages), $44.50 (32), $54.50 (40), plus shipping
Printed book:
Yes

What we liked

  • A real person reviews every picture before it prints.
  • Very quick: add photos, crop and reorder, pick a cover, check out. No horizontal scrolling.
  • Printed on one side of thick paper, so markers won’t bleed through.
  • The standard cover looks appealing.

What let it down

  • You never see your photos as coloring pages before paying.
  • No choice of style or detail level.
  • No personal message; using your own photo on the cover costs $12.50.
  • The most expensive in the test ($1.36–1.70 a page).
  • Photos only — no typed ideas or ready-made pages.

Best for: A quick, no-decisions gift from photos

coloring.app logo

4. coloring.app

5/10

Prints real books from photos, typed ideas and a big gallery, with an AI cover — but the book flow is confusing and you pay for credits on top of the book.

Price:
$15 for a book of up to 30 pages (coil +$2), plus credits and shipping; bundle $39.99 = 50 credits + 1 book + $10 shipping credit
Printed book:
Yes (publish step first)

What we liked

  • Make pages from photos or typed ideas, or add from thousands of ready-made gallery pages.
  • Photo to coloring page worked well, with options for style, background and added objects.
  • AI cover: describe it and pick one of three; free PDF of your book.
  • Choice of single- or double-sided printing.

What let it down

  • Pages added from the gallery didn’t show under Create → Book; we found them under "Books".
  • Reordering needs a separate mode instead of drag and drop; lots of horizontal scrolling.
  • Typed-idea pages failed twice for us (the credit was refunded).
  • Publishing before ordering took so long we thought it had broken.
  • The book price doesn’t include making the pages: a photo page costs 2 credits (about $0.32–1.00), more for portrait.
  • Without a membership, your pictures go in the public gallery unless you pay an extra credit each — worth knowing for family photos.
  • A plain, uninspiring interface; some gallery pages are too detailed to color.

Best for: People who want to mix gallery pages with their own

EverFold logo

5. EverFold

5/10

A low price, single-sided printing and a flip-through preview — let down by a dull four-photo cover and busy pages.

Price:
$19.99 for 16 photos (shown as down from $30), then $0.35 per extra page; tax included, shipping extra
Printed book:
Yes

What we liked

  • A low price: $19.99 for 16 photos, tax included.
  • Printed single-sided, so felt tips won’t show through.
  • Flip through the finished book before you order.

What let it down

  • The cover is always a four-photo grid with a plain title — the weakest cover in the test.
  • Some pages kept far too much background detail to color comfortably.
  • Editing is one page at a time; some horizontal scrolling.
  • Photos only; no style or age choice.

Best for: A cheap photo book where the cover doesn’t matter

FotoMedley logo

6. FotoMedley

4/10

A clean photo-to-art tool with fun styles, but no way to make or order a coloring book.

Price:
1 free credit; packs $4.99–29.99 ($0.30–0.50 a page); Creative Pro $9.99/mo
Printed book:
No

What we liked

  • Clear, uncluttered, professional-looking interface.
  • A good range of preset styles.
  • Credits never expire.

What let it down

  • No coloring book — just single pictures to download.
  • Output on the cheapest style was only okay.
  • Little customisation beyond the style; the purpose of its "Creative Canvas" is unclear.
  • Free pictures are branded; purchases are final.

Best for: Turning one photo into a stylised picture

Pikabook logo

7. Pikabook

3/10

The bare minimum: 24 photos, a title and a payment — with no preview of the pages or the cover.

Price:
€30 (about $35) printed, includes the PDF; €10 PDF only
Printed book:
Yes — 24-page softcover

What we liked

  • Very few steps.
  • The printed book comes with the PDF too.

What let it down

  • Sign-in only with Google or Microsoft; declining Microsoft’s permission gave a server error.
  • Exactly 24 photos — no other size.
  • A blank page for 20–30 seconds after uploading; we nearly left.
  • No preview of the pages or the cover before paying.

Best for: Nobody, until it shows a preview

How we tested

In October 2026 we went through each site's book builder as a parent making a gift would: signed up, turned photos into coloring pages, built a book and went as far as checkout. We scored each one out of 10 on the quality of the pages, whether you can see them before paying, the cover and personal touches, how easy the steps are, and the price — including the cost of making the pages, not just printing them. Sites that don't print a book lose marks here, however good their pages.

This page covers making a custom book only. Free coloring pages, online coloring and the rest of each site are compared separately; for free pages see the best free coloring sites. Prices change, so check the site before you pay.

Disclosure: we run ColoringPageDream.com, and it's in this test. We've described every site — ours included — from what we saw using it. ColoringPageDream.com is a coloring site with free printable coloring pages, free online coloring, an AI coloring page generator and custom coloring books printed on demand. See our brand facts.

Questions

What is the best custom coloring book from photos?
In our October 2026 test, ColoringPageDream.com (our own site) scored highest at 9/10 for its preview, cover designer, personal message and included picture tries, from $14.99 for 15 pictures. ColorBliss (7/10) makes the best pages and prints books in the US and Canada, but charges credits to make them on top of printing. My Colorful World is the simplest (a person checks every page, but no preview and prices from $33.99).
How much does a custom coloring book from photos cost?
Printed books in our test cost about $14 to $55 before shipping, but several sites charge separately for making the pictures. Counting that, ColoringPageDream.com was the lowest: $14.99 for 15 pictures with picture tries included. Like for like — printing only, pictures already made — a 15-page paperback costs $6.99 on ColoringPageDream.com, against $13.59 on ColorBliss and $15 on coloring.app. ColorBliss prints a 15-page paperback for $13.59 plus credits (a pack from $25 or a plan from $9/month), coloring.app charges $15 for up to 30 pages plus credits, EverFold $19.99 for 16 photos, Pikabook €30 (about $35) for 24 photos and My Colorful World $33.99–54.50.
Which sites let you see the pages before you order?
ColoringPageDream.com, coloring.app and EverFold show every page first. My Colorful World and Pikabook don't show the pages before you pay.
Does ColorBliss print coloring books?
Yes, in the US and Canada. You make the pages with credits, design a cover, and ColorBliss prints and posts the book — from $13.59 for a 15-page paperback ($20.22 stapled, $27.96 coil), plus credits and shipping. A proof is emailed after you order.
Is a photo coloring book good for toddlers?
Only if the pages are simple. Busy backgrounds and small areas are hard for little hands. ColoringPageDream.com lets you pick "Toddlers & Preschool" for big, bold outlines; most photo-only sites don't offer a detail setting.
Should a coloring book be printed on one side?
Yes if they use felt tips or markers, which can show through. ColoringPageDream.com, ColorBliss, My Colorful World and EverFold print one picture per sheet with a blank back; coloring.app lets you choose.
