A happy boy dashes across a grassy meadow, holding a large net aloft to catch a smiling butterfly fluttering overhead among blooming flowers. Painters use soft pastels for the child shirt and vibrant blues or yellows for the insect wings. The broad grassy patch and large flower petals invite swift coloring from wide markers, whereas the tiny mesh squares on the net demand patient strokes from a sharp colored pencil. Cut out the finished figures to create paper puppets for an outdoor storytelling session.
