A silver platter holds a stacked macaron tower tied with a ribbon, a frosted yule log cake topped with holly, and small tarts. Broad shapes like the round cookies suit soft markers, but the swirling bark lines on the log demand a precise colored pencil. Shade the macarons in pastel pink and blue, and paint the cake rich chocolate brown. Count the sweet treats aloud with family before serving a holiday dessert.
