A triangular slice of layer cake features horizontal filling bands and a round cherry with a curved stem resting on top. Little hands can quickly fill the broad cake layers using jumbo wax crayons, while coloring the thin curved stem demands patient control with a sharp colored pencil. Shade the filling layers with pale yellow and make the cherry deep red. Cut out the finished dessert illustration to decorate a birthday party invitation.
